Privacy Policy — Zurich Luxury Car Rental
Last updated:
This page explains how Zurich Luxury Car Rental handles personal data when you visit zurichluxurycarrental.ch, send an enquiry, write to us by email, phone or WhatsApp, or rent a car with us. It applies to visitors and clients, and it is written under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revised FADP, in force since 1 September 2023) and, where you are visiting us from the EU, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
If anything here is unclear, write to us at [email protected] and we will explain it in plain terms.
Who is responsible for your data
The controller for the personal data described on this page is Zurich Luxury Car Rental, the brand operating zurichluxurycarrental.ch and serving clients in and around Zurich. For any privacy question, access request or correction, contact us at [email protected]. We do not publish a separate registered office address for this site; all correspondence should go through this email address.
What we collect, and where it comes from
When you use our enquiry form, we collect the fields you fill in: your name, email, phone number if you give it, the car you are interested in if you choose one, your pick-up and drop-off dates, your flight number if you use the airport delivery form, and any message you write. The form also sends us the page you were on and the page that referred you, so we understand which car or offer you were looking at.
If you contact us by email, phone or WhatsApp instead, we collect whatever you tell us in that conversation. When you tap a WhatsApp button on our site, we record the click — the page URL, referrer, language and the prefilled message text — in our booking system before WhatsApp opens; the chat that follows runs inside WhatsApp itself.
Our hosting also keeps standard server logs: IP address, time, requested page and browser, kept briefly for security purposes.
If your rental is confirmed, we additionally need your driving licence and ID details, which we check at vehicle handover. This is necessary to verify that you are entitled to drive, to match the renter named on the booking to the person collecting the car, and to meet our obligations as a car rental business.
Why we use your data, and on what legal basis
We use enquiry and contact details to answer your request, prepare a quote and, if you go ahead, confirm and manage your booking. This is necessary to take pre-contractual steps at your request and, once a booking is confirmed, to perform the rental contract.
Server logs and WhatsApp click records are used to keep the site and our communications secure and to understand genuine requests from automated or abusive ones; this rests on our legitimate interest in protecting our business and clients.
Driving licence and ID details collected at handover, and booking records kept for accounting purposes, are processed because tax and accounting law requires us to keep them.
We do not use your data for automated decision-making, we do not sell personal data, and we do not send marketing emails unless you specifically ask us to.
Who receives your data
Enquiries and bookings are stored in our own booking system and shared internally through a messaging tool so our team can respond to you quickly; access is limited to the people who handle bookings.
If a booking is confirmed and includes a chauffeur, the driver who performs the service receives the details needed to carry it out, such as your name, pick-up details and flight number where relevant.
Our website is hosted by a hosting provider that serves the site's files; it does not receive your enquiry content beyond standard server logs. Two small technical services support the site: Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when your browser loads our typefaces, and the intl-tel-input library for the phone field, loaded from the jsDelivr content delivery network. Neither sets cookies on our behalf.
If you start a conversation with us on WhatsApp, that conversation is handled by WhatsApp (Meta) under WhatsApp's own privacy policy, which applies to anything you send there.
Data sent outside Switzerland
Loading Google Fonts and the jsDelivr script can involve a brief transfer of your IP address to servers operated by those providers, which may be located outside Switzerland. If you reach us through WhatsApp, Meta processes that conversation under its own policy and may process it outside Switzerland. We do not otherwise transfer your personal data abroad.
How long we keep your data
If your enquiry does not lead to a booking, we delete it after 12 months. If it does lead to a booking, we keep the booking record for as long as tax and accounting law requires us to. Server logs are kept only briefly, for security purposes.
Security and what the site stores in your browser
We limit access to your data to the people at Zurich Luxury Car Rental who need it to answer you or run your booking, and we rely on our hosting provider's infrastructure to keep the site itself secure.
The website itself does not set cookies. It uses two small browser storage entries: one remembers that you closed the cookie notice, and one temporarily remembers which car you clicked so the enquiry form can be prefilled for you; the second is deleted as soon as you close the tab or send the form. Neither entry contains your name, email or any other contact detail. No analytics, advertising or social-media tracking is installed on this site.
Your rights, and how to use them
Under the revised FADP and, where it applies, the GDPR, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and why
- correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete
- delete data we no longer need or are not required to keep
- restrict or object to certain processing, in particular processing based on our legitimate interest
- receive a copy of the data you gave us in a portable format, where that applies
To exercise any of these rights, write to [email protected]. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on your request, and we will respond within one month.
If you believe we have not handled your data properly, you can complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) at www.edoeb.admin.ch. If GDPR applies to you, you may also contact your own country's data protection authority.
Children, and updates to this policy
Our service is a car rental and chauffeur service aimed at adults who can hold a driving licence, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If we become aware that a child has sent us personal data, we will delete it.
We may update this policy if our practices or the law change. The version published on zurichluxurycarrental.ch is always the current one, and any change takes effect as soon as it is posted.
